Racket Boys (라켓소년단) EO3 - E08

Long time no write-up, and it feels good to be back.

Six episodes [of racket boys] had been left for me to share my thoughts, and honestly, I want to write in real-time, but there's too much on my plate,  so I decided to put it one writing and let it flow.

There are 3 points that I wanted to discuss.

Point No.1: The neglection of the Coach & His Realizations

This one is for coach Yoon and his half-hearted coaching to the boys, which is very different from how wholeheartedly his wife coaches the girls.

But here's a thing, even though that happened. The boys prepared and determined to join the competition.  The missed game [due to the coach] was an eye-awakener for him.

Good thing the boys didn't take a grudge against him despite what happened.

But one more thing.

That missed game serves as an awakener also to Hae-Kang. Like his father, he was giving a half-heart during the practice.

Yes, he trusts his abilities, but it is not enough to win the competition.

Point No.2: On Gen Z and Boomers

The boys went somewhere to escape the upgraded training. Little did they know that they need to work because Yong Tae lost their money.

The work that they've done made them realize how harsh reality is.

In that episode,  we saw the past of coach Yoon, and how brutal the coach and the seniors.  To the point that they are stepping the boundaries.

Lucky they are [The racket boys]  because they have an understanding coach and reliable and kind captain (Captain Bang Yoon Dam)

A takeaway on this point.

Each generation could learn from one another.  Coach Yoon can't seem to understand why the boys need to act that way.

But he realized that if he wants to be closed to them. He needs to understand how the Gen-Z mind works and be able to touch it.

There should be a boundary between being a coach and a friend, but it won't hurt if you make an effort to know the current trends and be relevant so that you could be close to them.

For the younger generations,  it won't hurt to follow standards and rules. Especially for those rules that MAKE SENSE. Like why you need to wear a helmet though it is uncomfortable.

Rules are set not to make life inconvenient but to make things in order and to make the environment as smooth and safe as possible.

Point No.3: On Teamwork.

Woo-Chan and Yong Tae won over Yoon Dam and Hae Kang during the doubles training, and it is because of their lack of teamwork.

In a team, there should always be someone who will lead and follow.

Yoon - Dam and Hae - Kang had both wanted to be a leader.

I do understand both sides and good thing they both learned.
