NOT YET THIRTY (아직 낫서른): First Impression

I've been waiting for this drama for quite sometime but the question is...  will I continue watching it? put it on hold? or the dreaded drop! 

The series is about the friendship of the 3 girls namely Seo Ji Won , a webtoon artist (played by Jung In Sun), Lee Ran Joo a radio announcer (Ahn Hee Yeon / Hani) and Hong Ah Young a restaurant owner (Cha Min - Ji)  and how they will deal their 30s and the people that will comeback and meet. 

The story will start with Seo Ji Won meeting again, her first love in middle school. 

EPISODE 1 QUICK RECAP: 

In episode 1, we could see the personality of the girls and how they deal with love, life and, how they bond 

In this episode also, we could see, Seo Ji Won meeting Lee Seung Yoo (played by Kang Min Hyuk of CN BLUE) her first love in middle school and, she thought that, he doesn't remember her but, that umbrella scene shows how much he missed her and, is interested working with her. 

EPISODE 2 QUICK RECAP: 

Seo Ji Won's previous webtoon creation "Psycho Bride" will now be turned into a movie and, Seung Yoo was so ecstatic that he volunteered to tell it to Seo Ji - Won. 

Upon telling, the two decided to have a celebratory dinner. 

Speaking of dinner, Lee Ran Joo had a blind date and, the moment she saw him, she suspected that something was off. 

The age of the man that she's supposed to meet is 35 but, the one who showed up, looks younger.

So she decided to go to her best friend's Restaurant and at that moment, the man confessed. 

He was really young (though "as far as I can remember" the age was not said) and he was asked to be a substitute for the date because, something urgent came up.

Even though he lied, they just continue the dinner and, as you can see on the picture below, they ended - up making out.

The thing about this series and why, I became interested, is because of the slice - of  - life factor of it.

On first episode they really gave that but, episode 2 seems to me that the whole series will be on a romantic - comedy side. Though, I don't hate rom-coms and I love watching those but, for this series to have more depth and substance it should focus on the slice - of -life approach besides, for a romantic comedy series the leads Ji Won and Seung Yoo is not giving us that vibes because they kind of interested to each other and, they don't have that awkward moments that romcom series always give.

To be fair, it maybe due to the fact that they are on their 30s and, that even if they became an item in the past and broke up, they remained friends who just lost in touch.

Moving on, among the three girls, I am kind of interested to Ran Joo's story arc. 

She doesn't want commitment because her parents divorced though it was revealed that she wants to end that- NOW THAT SHE APPROACHED 30! and, as we know now, she could end up being with a younger man. Which is kind of cool. 

We set a standard that women should find a man about her age or at least older (but not a May - December gap) and, well there is a good reason about it and, I think I will be discussing it next time, but for now, I am excited on how are they going to pull off that unconventional situation of Ran Joo and Joon Young.

30 is often associated with stability and maturity but, the series so far is trying to give us that another perspective of being on that age

I love how they associated 30 as Season 2 and, what they wanted to do on that new season of there life . 

That's quite an encouragement especially for people who will be approaching or currently on that age. 

It gives encouragement that age doesn't matter and you could still achieve your goals.  

With that being said, it's safe to say that I will still be watching the series and, I am enjoying it.
